Senior Talent Manager, Broadcast

Duties and responsibilities

  • Managing and developing a roster of high-profile clients across TV, radio, podcasting and digital.

  • Creating and executing client strategy to meet goals and expectations.

  • Develop and nurture high level relationships with commissioners and execs across digital and terrestrial broadcast networks.

  • Seek innovative opportunities for clients in the scripted and non-scripted space.

  • Identify and develop relationships with content buyers at streaming platforms.

  • Work with internal and external podcast producers to develop new talent-led formats.

  • Cross collaborating on opportunities across the wider roster of clients.

  • Researching potential new clients (both talent and brands) and working alongside the team to devise an outreach strategy to pitch for their business.

  • Managing existing and building new relationships across the industry for the benefit of the whole company.

  • Procuring opportunities for brand collaborations for clients.

  • Out of the box creative thinking for clients, staying on top of trends and forward thinking.

  • Reviewing and marking up contracts and deliverables and negotiating deals to a high standard.

  • Maintaining accurate document management using internal systems and processes.

  • Liaising with our Business Affairs department on contracting and invoicing for confirmed jobs.

  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure invoices are paid on time whilst maintaining a strong relationship.

  • Connecting and combining non-obvious ideas and opportunities to continue to build on our cross-pollination philosophy. Contribute and build on existing ideas to continue company innovation.

  • Liaise with PR companies to build and execute client press strategies

  • Crisis management in partnership with external publicists and in-house legal department.

  • Remaining up to date with the latest social and industry changes.

Specifications 

  • A minimum of 3 years professional experience of managing talent in the areas of TV and radio.

  • Extensive network within the entertainment business, including TV commissioners and production companies.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent negotiation skills.

  • High levels of influencing skills.

  • Highly proactive and outcome focused.

  • Ability to work under pressure, remain calm in situations of contention, reframe problems, project a pro-social & professional image at all times and lead by example.

  • Ability to compartmentalize and multitask to a high standard.

  • Must be confident to vocalise opinions and be part of the conversation.

  • Must be able to work in a collaborative way with other staff and stakeholders.

  • Outgoing, friendly with a ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Ability to dream big whilst remaining grounded and realistic.

  • Ability to identify personal areas to upskill and learn.

  • An understanding of IT systems, to include Microsoft package, Google Drive, Mac

 

Working conditions

The role is usually carried out from 10am – 6pm from the company’s head office situated within Sony Music Entertainment’s offices close to High Street Kensington. The job will require some evening or weekend work, remote working or work-related travel for new business opportunities.

The typical working day will be eight hours with an hour for lunch. Start time allows for flexibility within core business hours. May offer flexible working hours/location at the discretion of the Directors.

The job may involve working with challenging stakeholders or clients, from time to time.

 The role requires a person comfortable with overseeing transactions, positively challenging any concerns and coaching junior members of staff. Direct reports may include assistants, apprentices, interns or work experience placements.
